There are two tubes in your throat. One is the esophagus and the other one is the trachea, also known as the windpipe. When you swallow, your windpipe closes for protection. If you are startled, food can go in the trachea by accident.
When you are hungry, the muscles in your stomach move. As they shift, they cause your stomach to produce noises that sound similar to growling. It has been several hours since you ate anything and you can hear your empty stomach begin to grumble.
Your tongue is very important because it has more than 10,000 taste buds on it. These taste buds allow you to taste the various flavors of your food. The tongue is a strong muscle that pushes the food up and down against the roof of your mouth.
