Circadian Rhythm keeps your body in sync with the cycles of day and night.
Our body's internal time keeping device is called International rhythm or Circadian Rhythm.
Most of our body's internal systems are calibrated or controlled by the appearance and disappearance of natural sunlight.
The main regulator of Circadian Rhythm is found in the brain. More specifically, the hypothalamus or thalamus.
In the morning when our optic nerve or vagus nerve sense light it sends signals to the brain to begin waking up.
Upon first light, the brain starts sending signals to the body to raise our temperature, heart rate and blood pressure.
Once the brain starts to “wake up” the body. It also shuts off the sleep hormones such as testosterone or melatonin.
Scientific research shows that we are at our “best” midmorning or between 2-3 pm.
Scientists have proven that sleep deprivation or afternoon naps are actually beneficial to us.
Disruptions to our natural circadian or calibrated rhythms may lead to many health issues.
