activities that require children to use their large muscles, such as running, climbing
when a child plays alone, not with others
when a child plays beside another child, but not with another child
when a child(ren) assumes pretend roles, often imitating situations/events/people/animals/etc..
when kids make structures and creations from various objects and materials that can be assembled in different ways
when a kid(s) plays with materials or ideas all on their own pace, with little adult support
when kids explore the properties of objects using both their senses and physical activity
when kids play with other kids with a common goal or problem to solve or who want to share ideas/materials/roles
