Insulae were hard and crowded places to live.
Insulae usually had a bathroom, kitchen, and running water.
All roman types of housing had opening to let water, air, and light into the house.
Roman villas had a strict floor plan that all villas were designed upon.
Most people owned their own insulae.
Most people owned their own domus or villa.
The domus didn't have many windows to protect the occupants from intruders.
Insulae could be as high as 6-7 stories.
Villas were not decorated like the Roman domus.
