Julie enjoyed traveling so much it was her ambition to become an airline pilot. At school, she took classes in math and science. In fact, she was so serious about becoming an airline pilot that she was even saving her money to go to flight school.

Stan and his sister, Roslyn, were new to their neighborhood. They decided to explore all the new places. First, they visited the zoo, which was filled with unusual animals. When they entered the zoo they needed to decide where to go first.
Steve and David wanted to go fishing. There was a large pond nearby. The pond was filled with all kinds of freshwater fish, such as trout and bass. There was another smaller pond nearby where people were not allowed to fish.
Jordan loved the Countdown Zero game. Roberto thought Space Command was better. They decided to each try both games. Jordan placed the Countdown Zero disc into the computer and, to both boys' surprise, the disc was blank!
Marisa and her Aunt Genie decided to explore the beaches along the ocean. Genie wanted to find some ancient fossils of fish nicely preserved in the rocks and sand. Her aunt explained that fossils are signs of life that lived long ago.
Jim and Jeni were gathering some berries for lunch. Jeni hoped there were no snakes or mice in the bushes. Jim wasn't worried. He didn't think snakes lived around there. As Jim pushed aside a branch, he heard a rattle and a hissing sound.
